My career in technology consulting was spent entirely with Deloitte in Chicago, IL. I worked there for 6 years, primarily as a technical project and product manager, overseeing teams supporting the planning, design, development, and implementation of applications in the state government and health care sectors. My roles and responsibilities were as follows:

Senior Consultant - Sep 2017 to Feb 2019 - Client: Health Care Service Corporation - Role: Product Manager

  • Led the functional application design and management of project work plans, scope, issues, and risks for a $400M multi-year project to enhance a legacy claim adjudication system and modernize its technology from on-premise to the cloud.

  • Managed a team of 10 product analysts to deliver user stories and functional design specifications to 10 global scrum teams, liaised with client product owners and subject matter experts, coordinated communication within the project team, and oversaw the activities of Deloitte and client staff.

  • Designed and implemented claims process enhancements that led to $1-3M in annual savings by minimizing manual intervention and leveraging user centered design principles that streamlined claim adjudication processes for employees.

  • Led recruitment effort for Notre Dame engineering students, including organization of on-campus informational events, career fair presence, and interviews.

Consultant - Sep 2013 to Sep 2017 - Client: Wisconsin Department of Health Services - Role: Technical Project Manager

  • Delivered over 10 web application projects, ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 hours, on time, on budget, and with the highest client feedback marks for quality. Responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle, including project planning, requirement gathering, functional and technical design, development, testing, implementation, and training.

  • Managed a team of 8 developers and a functional analyst, and led collaboration and coordination with client stakeholders, subcontractors, and enterprise architecture and infrastructure teams.

  • Enhanced the user interface and usability of an online program eligibility request tool through the application of user centered design principles, which led to ~37% increase in successful eligibility queries determined 1 year after implementation.

  • Implemented a paperless correspondence solution that has seen steady membership enrollment and subsequent reduction of mailing costs since inception in 2015.

Also during my time at Deloitte, I went on sabbatical for the last half of 2017. During that time I volunteered at various non-profit organizations across the western US that supported low-income families and children. Projects ranged from skills-based volunteering where organizations leveraged my background in IT and public policy, to to warehouse support, to working construction on low-income housing. Overall I worked a total of 557 hours in six months, supporting five organizations in five different cities, while traveling over 12,000 miles on my Harley Davidson motorcycle to move from place to place.
